What the Directory Covers

The directory covers law firms operating across all eight Australian states and territories. Each listing includes:

How Listings Are Sourced

Listings are compiled from publicly available business information, including firm websites, Australian business registries, and public professional profiles. We do not charge firms to be listed, and payment plays no role in how results are ordered or displayed.

Because firm details change over time - offices relocate, practice areas shift, contact numbers are updated - some information may occasionally become outdated. We review and update listings regularly, but users should always confirm critical details directly with the law firm before proceeding.

How Ratings Are Verified

Client ratings displayed on Law Firms Australia are aggregated from publicly accessible review platforms. We do not publish anonymous or unverifiable ratings, and we do not accept paid reviews or sponsored placements.

To produce fair ranked lists, we apply a Bayesian average to all rating data. This method blends a firm's actual client ratings with a conservative prior, preventing a firm with a single five-star review from outranking a firm with hundreds of verified reviews. In practice, this means:

A firm with 1 review at 5.0 stars ranks below a firm with 200 reviews at 4.3 stars
Firms with no reviews are not penalised, but rank behind those with verified client feedback
The ranking reflects genuine client experience, not the recency of a single review

This approach is consistent with how major review aggregators (such as IMDb's weighted rating) handle low-volume scores, and is designed to protect users from misleading rankings.
