Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 June 2026
Law Firms Australia is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information in the following circumstances:
- Enquiry forms. If you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and any details you voluntarily submit.
- Listing accounts. If you claim or manage a law firm listing, we collect and store the email address associated with your account, and information relating to the listing you manage.
- Featured listing subscriptions. If you purchase a featured listing, we collect and store billing-related information including your email address, your chosen billing interval (monthly or annual), and identifiers that link your account to your payment and subscription records (see “Payment Processing” below). We do not collect or store your full card details — these are handled directly by our payment processor.
2. Use of Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiries.
- Create and manage listing accounts.
- Process featured listing purchases, manage subscriptions and renewals, and provide customer support relating to billing.
- Send you transactional communications relating to your account or subscription (for example, payment confirmations or notices about a failed payment).
3. Payment Processing (Stripe)
Featured listing payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you make a purchase, your payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe under their own privacy policy and security standards (Stripe is PCI DSS compliant). We do not see or store your full card number.
We share your email address with Stripe to create your customer record, and we store the customer, subscription, and checkout identifiers Stripe returns to us so we can manage your subscription. Stripe may process and store this information outside Australia, including in the United States. By purchasing a featured listing you consent to this cross-border disclosure for the purpose of processing your payment.
4. Analytics
We use Fathom Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics. Fathom is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or track individuals.
5. Cookies
When you log in to manage a listing, we use a secure session cookie that is strictly necessary to keep you signed in. We do not use this cookie for advertising or cross-site tracking.
6. Advertising
We may display ads in the future, including Google Ads. These may involve cookies or tracking technologies controlled by third parties (e.g. Google). We'll update this policy before ads go live.
7. Data Storage and Retention
This site is hosted by Vercel, and data you submit is stored securely using industry-standard practices. We retain account and listing data for as long as your account or listing is active. We retain billing and subscription records for as long as required to provide the service and to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, after which the data is deleted or de-identified.
8. Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the site — currently our hosting provider (Vercel), our analytics provider (Fathom), and our payment processor (Stripe) — and only to the extent necessary to provide the service, or where required by law.
9. Your Rights
You may request access to, or correction or deletion of, any personal information you have submitted. Please use our contact form to submit such requests. Note that we may need to retain certain billing records to comply with our legal obligations even after a deletion request.
10. Legal Compliance
We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, including in relation to the cross-border disclosure of personal information. For more information, visit OAIC.gov.au.
