Areté Legal helps people buying or selling property, leasing commercial premises, and planning or administering an estate. The firm is led by Principal Lawyer Nerissa Thompson, who was admitted to practice in Victoria in 2010 and is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.

The firm is mostly digital. Clients can meet by video, sign documents electronically and complete identity verification online. In person meetings are also available by appointment.

When a matter falls outside its work, the firm can refer clients to other lawyers and advisers it knows, such as mortgage brokers, accountants and family or criminal law lawyers.

Areté Legal has offices at Level 11, 456 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, and in Warrnambool, Victoria. Meetings are by appointment only. The firm also works online, so clients can meet by video from home or work.

The firm mainly handles conveyancing for buyers and sellers, residential and commercial. It also does commercial leasing, mortgage and property transfers, and loan agreements secured by a mortgage.

In estate work, it prepares wills, enduring powers of attorney and superannuation death benefit nominations. It also helps executors administer estates.
