Barwon Community Legal Service
About
Barwon Community Legal Service is an independent community legal centre that gives free legal information, advice and casework to people in the Geelong region. It is funded by the State and Federal Governments and was established in 1986.
The service helps with family violence, family law, child support, Centrelink and debt matters. It gives priority to low income earners, people experiencing family violence and people who could not otherwise get legal help.
Clients can get information and referrals, one-on-one advice from a lawyer, and ongoing casework for eligible clients. Casework may include representation at court. The areas it can cover depend on funding and staff capacity.

The office is at Level 1, 63 Thomson Street, Belmont, in Geelong. It serves Greater Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, the Surf Coast and the Colac Otway region.

Was referred to this place by consumer affairs for an ongoing dispute I have with a business not fulfilling there obligation to do the job there where paid to do. Called by phone and dealt with a woman named Grace. Unfortunately straight away she was rude and quick to dismiss me even though I was polite and respectful. She didn't give a reason why she couldn't help, she just sounded like she couldn't be bothered doing her job. Perhaps I should go above there head and go to the ombudsman. Because it seems these people just get paid to answer the phone and tell you to move on. I suppose if I was rich I would be considered important. But this is a community legal service (for people who want free legal advice) so you get what you pay for as they say. Just couldn't believe I wasn't even given a reason why she couldn't provide any additional information or recommend a service. This is a major reason why society is going down hill, you try to do things in a civil way. Jump through the hoops to get no where. This is why people resort to crime and violence. Because no one cares.
