Central Queensland Community Legal Centre

About

Central Queensland Community Legal Centre gives free legal help to people who are vulnerable or disadvantaged in Central and North West Queensland. Its services aim to reach people whose money problems would otherwise keep them from legal support.

The Centre is a generalist service. Its work covers family law, domestic and family violence, elder abuse, and minor criminal and civil matters. Translation services support people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Centre is a non-profit organisation funded by State and Federal Government grants and public donations. It also runs the Robert Fisher Pro Bono Legal Centre with CQUniversity, where law students gain work experience.

Geographic Focus and Office Locations

The Centre has offices in Rockhampton, Gladstone and Mount Isa. It also holds clinics in Biloela and Yeppoon, and Emerald is listed as an advice clinic location on its home page. It serves Central and North West Queensland, including regional, rural and remote communities.

Notable Expertise or Industry Focus

The Centre gives family law advice and casework, including parenting matters, child support and property settlement. It runs the Domestic Violence Duty Lawyer Service, funded by Legal Aid Queensland, and also helps with elder abuse matters. It also handles minor criminal and civil matters, and holds a monthly estate administration clinic in Rockhampton. Appointments are available in person, by telephone or by video conference.
