Chelmsford Legal

Chelmsford Legal is a Perth criminal defence firm. It acts for people charged with criminal offences, from traffic matters and restraining orders to murder and fraud trials. The firm does defence work only and does not take prosecution briefs.

The lawyers are barristers and solicitors, so they can run a case from start to finish without briefing outside counsel. Darryl Ryan founded the firm in 2013 after working as a prosecutor and managing the criminal team at a large Perth firm.

The firm also acts for clients who qualify for Legal Aid and is the Western Australian member of the Australian Defence Lawyers Alliance.

Chelmsford Legal has one office at Level 1, The Gledden Building, 731-737 Hay Street, Perth WA 6000, on the corner of Hay Street Mall and William Street. It is a short walk from the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts. Through its ADLA membership it can also help with criminal matters in other states.

Chelmsford Legal does criminal defence work only. Its services include trials, sentencing, appeals, bail applications, drink driving and other traffic offences, drug offences, fraud, and serious charges such as murder and manslaughter. The firm also handles criminal property confiscations, violence and misconduct restraining orders, and criminal injuries compensation. Principal Darryl Ryan is on several Legal Aid crime panels.
