Hume Riverina Community Legal Service

Hume Riverina Community Legal Service is a free community legal centre for people in north east Victoria and the southern Riverina of New South Wales. It helps people who face barriers to justice, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people up to 24, people affected by natural disasters, people at risk of family violence, and people living with disability or mental illness.

The service gives legal help with family law, family and domestic violence, child support, credit and debt, fines, housing and tenancy, consumer complaints and victims' compensation. It also runs community legal education and works for law reform.

The centre began in 1999 and is a service of Upper Murray Family Care. People are usually referred by a community, health, education or family violence worker, and can also call the office on (02) 6055 8090.

The main office is at Level 1, 9 Stanley Street, Wodonga, Victoria. The service covers 17 local government areas across north east Victoria and the southern Riverina of New South Wales. Lawyers see clients face to face in Wodonga, Wangaratta, Albury, Corowa, Deniliquin, Finley, Corryong and Myrtleford.

The service runs a civil law practice and a family law and family violence practice. Its work covers family law for children and property, separation and divorce, child support, family violence orders, credit and debt, fines, housing and tenancy, consumer complaints and victims' compensation. It is accredited by the National Association of Community Legal Centres. Help is free and available by phone, email and in person.
