John Eylander

John Eylander is a Cairns barrister who appears in State and Federal courts and tribunals. He helps people and businesses with disputes, from trials and appeals to mediations and inquiries.

He has more than 25 years of legal experience in metropolitan and regional centres and was first called to the private Bar in 2001. Before that, his career included partnership at a national law firm, practice manager of a multi-office firm, government legal officer and university lecturer.

John practises from chambers at 61 McLeod Street, Cairns, with a separate mediation room. He holds mediation accreditation with the Queensland Law Society.

John Eylander practises from chambers at Commercial Court, 61 McLeod Street, Cairns. The chambers are close to the Commonwealth Courts and the Cairns court complex. He practises state-wide and regularly appears before regional Magistrates and Judges.

John appears in trials, hearings and appeals in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts, and in the Federal and Family Courts. His work includes personal injury, workers' compensation, family law, estate matters, building and construction, planning and environment, and commercial and property matters. He also acts in police, coronial, disciplinary and administrative law matters, and in defamation. He is an accredited mediator with the Queensland Law Society and also acts as an arbitrator.
