Legal Aid Queensland

Legal Aid Queensland helps Queenslanders who cannot afford a lawyer. It gives legal information, advice and representation to people facing family, criminal and civil law problems.

People can call its information line, get help at court, or ask for a lawyer to represent them. It also runs community legal education and offers help after disasters such as floods, cyclones and bushfires.

Legal Aid Queensland helps with family law, including child support, parenting and domestic violence, and with criminal law, including traffic and drink driving offences. It also gives civil law help on matters such as employment, debt, insurance, discrimination and injury and compensation. It runs a Youth Legal Advice Hotline, a Drug Diversion Legal Advice Line, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Information Line and a Farm and Rural Legal Service. It also supports First Nations clients through Blurred Borders Queensland.
