Oxley Barristers & Solicitors defends people charged with crimes in Tasmania. The firm also advises people who are being questioned by police or who face allegations but have not been charged. Criminal defence is the only work it does.

The firm takes on any criminal case in the Magistrates Court or Supreme Court, whatever the charge. This includes drink driving, family violence, assault, drug offences and bail applications. It also takes Legal Aid cases and can handle the funding application for you.

The first meeting to discuss a case is free. The firm explains your options and how to proceed, and can arrange an interpreter for meetings and court.

The firm's office is at Level 1, 37-39 George St, Launceston. It appears in courts across Tasmania, including Launceston, Hobart, Devonport and Burnie, and says it will act anywhere in the state.

The firm practises only in criminal defence. Principal James Oxley has practised criminal law for sixteen years, including as Associate Director Criminal Law at Legal Aid, and sits on the Law Society of Tasmania's Criminal Law Committee. Libby Oxley also acts for clients in the Magistrates Court. The firm offers a free first meeting, instalment plans and interpreters.
