We chose Angelina Pascale for my husband's case regarding a crime he committed when he was 17. At first we felt she had a warm manner and was very confident in getting the situation defused quickly and efficiently, with a fair consequence. As the case went on we started to feel that she was not very interested in backstory of the offense, gave us misinformation, discouraged him from correcting discrepancies in several statements, and neglected to give my husband informed consent. He was not told that an IVO was potentially going to be put in place, he was not told an IVO is lifelong. There was no reason for the IVO as my husband had not contacted the other party for over a year, and had no idea where they were living, nor did he have any interest in this information. He is now trapped with an IVO, which has greatly affected his chosen career pathways. As advised by other legal counsel, attempting to revoke this IVO could cost us up to $23,000, they were very concerned that a potential IVO and the possible consequences were not explained to him. She also advised us (after my husband explicity asked) that this would not go on his record, unless a government organisation (such as DCP, the military, etc) requested a background check, as it was dealt with in the Youth Court and he was not dealt with as an adult. This is not true, proven by a recently acquired police check. My husband's job prospects are now greatly limited because he was not informed of the full extent of these consequences. We were reassured frequently that it would not affect him and that the issue would be quickly resolved with minimal repercussions, as he was a minor when the crime happened and the matter was being dealt with in Youth Court. At the end of the day, it is easy to say he should have known, but we choose legal counsel and place our trust in them to advocate and give us information to assist us in legal trouble and to prevent an unfair sentence.
