A little misleading about waiting last for advocacy. Turns out the waiting list is advice to self represent. So wasted a month waiting for something they don’t help with. Not 1 star as they did. Help me in another matter with a legal letter. So if you are capable of self representing in qcat. They are ok but ndis appeals. I think is a bit of a dogs breakfast who they help

I was unable to get support with serious ongoing abuse. This is not because these people do not want to help. It is because they are overstretched to the max and governments impose restrictive black and white boxes around what they will help, which leaves anyone in a situation the funders or legislators couldn't conceive out in the cold. I also know of fantastic work that many of the staff here are responsible for. I'm too sick to lobby for more funding and QAI calls for mare support often goes unheard. The lawyers and others that work there are very dedicated and work for much lower salaries than they can get elsewhere. If you can motivate more lobbying for increased funding, please do so
First I want to give review readers a heads up, particularly those whose trauma may be compounded when they repeatedly describe their situation to one service after the next, only to be refused help... QAI are often simply "at capacity" and can't take you on. I get the impression that being told any different on first contact with them is a bit like winning the lottery. Still, this wouldn't be a one star review solely for that reason if they hadn't tried to convince me that my issue doesn't fall within their services (it does), that I live outside the area they service (I don't), and that they don't offer the type of assistance I'm seeking (they do)... before finally admitting the real reason they can't assist is that they're "at capacity" (as per usual). Why not just say that in the first place? Why try to gaslight the person with a disability on the other end of the line into believing that they have just gotten absolutely everything wrong (like they're stupid), instead of just admitting that QAI can't manage taking anything more on? I think I speak for a lot of PWDs when I say that we are treated like this far too much already when we are trying to access essential services, which is why we end up having to turn to QAI in the first place. When we do call, we should not be met with more of the same.
