I am very disappointed with the service and won't seek help from them again. I phoned the service and a recorded message told me they could not take my call but would call me back. The return call came days later. I had a question, general in nature, about a situation that could apply to any senior person living in a retirement village. Why does it need to be about a specific person? The Paralegal said he could not help me because the person on whose behalf I was calling was not present. All I want to know is what the procedure is to apply to a retirement village for a transfer and what the resident's rights are regarding costs. Surely, it's a general question worthy of an answer. The service is a waste of time and effort.
I received a call back this morning after leaving a message yesterday; considering the service is called SENIORS RIGHTS, the woman speaking to me was unprofessional, continually interrupting, dismissive and negating my situation completely. This was her projecting her own agenda. I had No rights whatsoever during this phone call, let alone access to the service. She hung up with me still in mid sentence. No, there was no arguing , language, abuse any such thing as this. I think she was simply in a hurry for her morning tea. I suggest her supervisor listen to the call. It took place at roughly 9.45am. Any incorrect account of this call placed as a response will be dealt with accordingly.
Located on the second floor, a service which you cannot just walk into. You need an appointment before entering their business. They are a thorough service that cares about your needs. When we entered the ptemises the eldetly gentleman was nearly denied access. They lied about our appointment. I had $6,500, of receipts which wasnt discussed. The receipts werent looked at. They made the elderly gentlemen who owns his property pay $15,000. I looked into the missing receipts and found that $2,000 was stolen from us as we paid it. I also asked the kind lady at Australia Post, to look into the remaining receipts. She said she couldn't access them.
Overwhelmingly concerning. Disappointing, frustrating experience & despite their title, Seniors Rights Service disregards & disrespects the senior's rights. Insensitive, unnecessarily intrusive communications in response to the most basic process related questions being asked. This service shuts trusted, loving advocates out of information & conversations, even if the senior caller has specifically requested to have their own advocate assist them to participate in & understand conversations around legal issues. This service leaves vulnerable seniors exposed, confused & wishing they hadn’t called. This service cites the potential for elder abuse as an excuse to shut trusted advocates out of information & conversations. This organisation should be reminded that not respecting the wishes of seniors who specifically request that their loved one or trusted advocate assist them to communicate & seek assistance to address their concerns, is in fact, an infringement of the seniors rights. Perhaps this service is seeking to manipulate seniors in order to appear more esteemed & relevant than they actually are. This organisation wants your comprehensive, sensitive information, because guess what, it's data! These days, data is power. You know, it's almost as if this organisation wants seniors to feel that they are being manipulated by the people closest to them, because that would be good for business. Who funds these people? The abusers are not always the advocates, friends or family. The abusers can be psychopathic, narcissistic people who work in the very organisations that our society relies on and trusts to assist vulnerable people.
Extremely helpful service whose professional advisers enabled me to sort out various options for a complicated estate matter. Highly recommended and I would not hesitate to consult them again.
