I have worked with Kimberley Martin and Casey Goodman for a number of years both professionally and personally and their knowledge, service and attention to detail is outstanding. They are exceptional lawyers who I would happy work with time and time again and regularly refer my own clients to them.
After a 42 minute conversation of which it was clear there was no further instructions given for them to act and after I sent a email confirming that they would not be able to help me from what they told me I received a bill for just under $1200.00. No real advice given only some confirmation of what I was already aware. I complained 3 times once in writing the other 2 times over the phone and finally received a response with a lesser charge to $800.00. It’s reasons like this people dislike lawyers and the astonishing and some what creative methods they use to charge you for there time. Look elsewhere for advise and get a upfront quote before considering engaging with this firm. Read other reviews I know I wish I had.
They are competent and thorough but charge exorbitantly. Miniscule tasks such as reading a short email, talking to a colleague, sending an invoice, etc are all billed separately for at least one 6 minute block, even if there are a succession of tiny tasks done on the same day. Each 6 minute block is around $45 or more. An email and its response can easily be over $100, with nothing in the least bit complex. They seem to either refuse to give an estimate, or give an estimate where they then go well over the top end, though to be fair in one case they charged according to the agreed maximum, despite time exceeding the estimate, and in another case they gave $500 discount although the charged cost still exceeded the upper limit of the estimate by $700. I know all lawyers bill in 6 minute blocks, but they don't all break everything down to the smallest granularity to bill separately for each aspect of a task. Arranging and having 1 meeting for 90 mins cost $600+ while setting up the time and talking to a junior colleague, and taking out the file managed to come to a further $600+! As mentioned, they are however knowledgeable and thorough, and did save me about $25,000 for a combined cost of something like $5000. I would only use them if it was a complex matter where the stakes were high enough to make the costs acceptable.
Unprofessional at best. Dishonest and disreputable at worst. Good customer service is unknown to these clowns. Still waiting for my father-in-law's estate to be distributed after 6 years. Obviously milking the estate for more legal fees. They tell lies and their accounting and correspondence is the worst I've ever seen in 33 years of business. Spelling and Grammar on letters and accounts, a junior would put them to shame. They claim disbursements they cannot prove and forget leaving messages or sending emails, they don't follow anything up. If you need good legal advice walk past these misfits!!!
Beware! There are many better alternatives.
