Legal Aid ACT gives free legal help to people in the Australian Capital Territory. Anyone can call the helpline for one-off advice in many areas of law, no matter their income.

The service has lawyers on duty at courts and tribunals for people without a lawyer. It also runs a Youth Law Centre for people under 25, a Tenancy Advice Service ACT, and a migration service for some visa holders.

They provided legal aid for my case during a very difficult and stressful time. However, it seemed they had a lot of cases to deal with. At some points in the process, I assumed they were not very serious about my case and didn't care. I had a few arguments with them, but they patiently explained and kept me updated regarding the process, which decreased my stress and mistrust. I believe they did their best, and I am very happy with the outcome.
