Monk Lawyers

Monk Lawyers is a Hobart firm that defends people charged with criminal offences. It acts for clients in the Magistrates Court and the Supreme Court, from simple driving matters to serious charges.

Pip Monk leads the firm. She set up Monk Lawyers in 2023 after ten years at Tasmanian Legal Aid. She chairs the Law Society of Tasmania Criminal Law Committee.

The team also helps with bail applications, restricted licence applications, family violence orders, appeals and coronial inquests.

Monk Lawyers has its office at 166 Liverpool Street, Hobart. The offices are on the first floor with no lift, and the firm can arrange to meet clients elsewhere if mobility is an issue. The lawyers appear regularly in all criminal courts in Tasmania.

Monk Lawyers works only in criminal defence. Its services include driving, violence, drug, dishonesty and sexual offences, as well as appeals and Supreme Court trials. It also acts in the Drug Court, the Mental Health Diversion List and the Youth Justice Court. Robert Fisher specialises in youth justice, and Olivia McKee in restricted driver licence applications.
