I recently applied for a legal assistant for Slater and Gordon which was advertised on Seek. I had someone from the Melbourne office contacting me in relation to my application. In which, she was requesting for a phone interview in two days time. I responded to the original email 20 minutes after the email was sent and was greeted with a 'out of office' notice. The day the phone interview was scheduled, I received no phone call. I emailed again, saying I will take Friday off work if she would like to discuss my application. Once again, I had no response. Two weeks later, I finally received some communication and was told the recruitment was put on hold and to see if I had any availability for a phone interview. A new date and time was agreed and a confirmation email was received. The new date approached and again, I received no phone call. It's incredibly upsetting to experience this from a reputable company. I understand that some incidents may occur during the recruitment process. However, it's best to communicate with your applicants so they are aware of what is going on and isn't left in the dark. The job hunt post graduation is stressful enough as is, we don't need the extra stress of companies ghosting us during the process.
